The Proxy feature allows UCT academics to appoint a person as a proxy to manage their researcher profile on their behalf. Proxies may be UCT non-academic (PASS) staff, current UCT students, other UCT academic staff or any third party with network access. Each proxy is listed by UCT Number and Name. There is no limit on the number of proxies academics may create.
Proxies do not have the access to add or delete other proxies so will not be able to perform any functions on the Manage Proxies page.
You will need the UCT number of the proxy or proxies, i.e.:
Either the staff number if the proxy is a UCT PASS staff member or other UCT academic staff member;
Or the student number if the proxy is a current UCT student;
Or the third party number (T-number) if the proxy is a third party with network access.
Log in to the UCT Research Portal website with your UCT network credentials.
On the action menu, choose Proxy ® Manage Proxies.
The Manage Proxies page opens.
Click Add Proxy.
The Add a Proxy dialog box appears.
Enter the UCT number in the UCT Number field.
Click Find.
The Add a Proxy dialog box reappears displaying the name of the person whose UCT number you entered.
If this is the correct person, click Accept to confirm the listed person.
The following message displays briefly: “Proxy has been successfully added.”
Click
to close the dialog box.
The Manage Proxies page reopens displaying the selected person who has been added to the list of proxies.
