Procedure: Adding Research Fields

Introduction

The Research Fields sub-category contains a listing of your research domain, primary research field, secondary research field and specialisations. See also: Restrictions on number of entries per Research Field

The text relating to the summary is entered into the rich text Summary field.

Each Research Summary entry requires a minimum of a Title and Keywords to be entered. An assortment of relevant keywords can be entered in the Keywords field separated by space, comma or semicolon.

  1. Log in to the UCT Research Portal website with your UCT network credentials.

  2. In the Researcher Profiles – Home page, click Research Fields sub-category.

  3. The Researcher Profiles – Research Fields page opens.

  4. Select your research domain from the Domain drop-down list field.

Adding a primary research field

  1. The Add a Primary Research Field Entry dialog box appears.

You may add a maximum of two Primary Research Fields.

Saving and adding another primary research field, if applicable

  1. The Researcher Profiles – Research Summaries page reopens.

Adding a secondary research field

  1. The Add a Secondary Research Field Entry dialog box appears.

 You may add a maximum of four Secondary Research Fields.

  1. Enter or select the secondary research field the Secondary Research Field extendable select field.

Saving a secondary research field

  1. The Researcher Profiles – Research Fields page reopens.

Adding a specialisation

  1. The Add a Research Specialisation Entry dialog box appears.

You may add a maximum of  ten Research Specialisations.

Saving a specialisation

  1. The Researcher Profiles – Research Fields page reopens.

  2. If necessary, click rp_updownarrows.gif up / down arrows under Change order to sort the Research Fields listing by priority.
