Procedure: Editing an Other Significant Conference Output

Introduction

Existing Other Significant Conference Outputs entries may be edited or updated, if required.

Procedure

1. Log in to the UCT Research Portal website with your UCT network credentials.

2. Click Scholarly Outputs.

2. In the Scholarly Outputs – Home  page, click the Conference Outputs  category.

3. The Scholarly Outputs – Conference Outputs page opens displaying any added entries.

• Editing an ISSN and article title

Editing an ISSN and article title

• In the Other Significant Conference Output section, click Edit for the entry you wish to edit.

4. The Scholarly Outputs – Edit a Significant Conference Output page opens.

If necessary, carry out the following edits:

• Enter the ISBN number in the ISBN Number field.

• Edit the title of the proceeding in the Title of Proceeding field.

• Edit the title of the contribution to the conference in the Title of Contribution  rich text field.

• Edit the title of the conference in the Title of Conference rich text field.

• Select the country of the conference from the Country of Conference drop-down list field.

Editing and saving a contributor

• Click Edit next to the contributor name you wish to edit.

5. The Edit a Contributor dialog box appears.

• Edit the contributor's surname in the Last Name field.

• Edit the contributor's initials in the Initials field.

• If this person is currently involved with UCT, click Search UCT.

• A list of UCT staff members and students appears (based on the surname and initials entered above).

• Click to select the relevant person from the list and continue to the Primary Author check box.

• In the Institution extendable select field, edit or select the author's institution name.

• If this person was the primary author, ensure that the Primary Author check box is selected.

• Click Save & Close.

• The following message displays briefly: “Information was successfully saved.”

6. The Scholarly Outputs – Edit a Significant Conference Output page reopens.

• If necessary, in the Contributor/s list click the up / down arrows to sort by priority.

Editing and saving an editor

• Click Edit next to the editor name you wish to edit.

7. The Edit an Editor dialog box appears.

• Edit the editor's surname in the Last Name field.

• Edit the editor's initials in the Initials field.

• If this person is currently involved with UCT, click Search UCT.

• A list of UCT staff members and students appears (based on the surname and initials entered above).

• Click to select the relevant person from the list and continue to the Primary Editor check box

• In the Institution extendable select field, edit or select the editor's institution name.

• If this person was the primary editor, select the Primary Editor check box.

• Click Save & Close.

• The following message displays briefly: “Information was successfully saved.”

8. The Scholarly Outputs – Edit a Significant Conference Output page reopens.

• If necessary, in the Editor/s list click the up / down arrows to sort by priority.

Editing and saving additional conference output information

• Edit the number of the item's first page in the Start Page field.

• Edit the number of the item's last page in the End Page field.

• Select the publication status from the Status drop-down list field.

• Edit the year in the Year field.

• Edit the website address in the URL field.

• Edit the article number (DOI) in the Article Number / DOI field.

• Select the relevant peer reviewed option from the Peer Reviewed drop-down list field.

• If this falls into the category of engaged scholarship, ensure that the Engaged Scholarship check box is selected.

• Enter the details of your contribution in the Own Contribution field.

• Select your own faculty from the Own Faculty drop-down list field.

• Select your own department from the Own Department drop-down list field.

• In the Own Research Group / Unit / Centre extendable select field, edit or select the name of your research group / unit / centre, if applicable.

• Edit keywords, separated by space, comma or semicolon, in the Keywords field.

Contributing to OpenUCT

• Click Upload Contribution.

9. The Upload to OpenUCT dialog box appears.

10. Select the file version from the File to upload drop-down list field.

11. Select the Creative Commons licence from the Licensing drop-down list field.

12. Click Browse in the Upload file/s field.

10. The File Upload dialog box opens.

11. Navigate to the location of your saved file.

12. Select the file to upload.

13. Click Open.

11. The File Upload dialog box reopens with your selected file listed below the Upload file/s field.

• If you want to select another file to upload, click Browse to add another file and repeat from step 10.

• If you want to remove a previously selected file, click next to the file to remove.

12. Select the check box to agree to the OpenUCT non-exclusive distribution agreement.

13. Click Upload File/s.

14. The following message displays briefly: “Information was successfully saved.”

• Click Save & Close.

• The following message displays briefly: “Information was successfully saved.”
