Procedure: Printing a CV

Introduction

Printing a CV will create the Microsoft Word output of the selected CV. Once the Microsoft Word document has been downloaded and opened in the Microsoft Word, one may send the document to your local network printer, if required.

Procedure

 

Compiling and saving a CV in the Research Portal

  1. Log in to the UCT Research Portal website with your UCT network credentials.

  2. Click Compile CV on the Action Menu.

  1. The Research Profiles – CV Templates  page opens listing your compiled CVs.

  2. Click print.gif  Print next to the CV you wish to create the Microsoft Word output of.

  1. The Do you want to open or save <CV name> dialog box dialog box appears.

  2. Select Save.

  3. The selected file is downloaded.

  1. The <item name> download has completed dialog box appears.

  2. Select Open.

Viewing, editing and printing a CV in Microsoft Word

In Microsoft Word:

  1. The CV document appears in protected view.

  2. If necessary, click Enable Editing.

  1. A warning dialog box may appear: "This document contains fields that may refer to other files. Do you want to update the fields in this document?"

  2. Click Yes.

  1. The CV document reappears with the content populated according to the Compile CV selections.

  2. If necessary, review and make any required changes to the CV.

  3. To print your CV on your local network printer:

  4. Click File ® Print.

  5. Click mw_print.gif Print.

  6. Click word-save.gif Save to save any changes made to your CV.

  7. Click mw_close.gif Close to close your CV.
