A UCT third party is a person who is sponsored by a department at UCT and requires access to one or more of UCT’s facilities for a limited period (not exceeding six months). A third party is neither a UCT staff member (T1, T2 and T3 contract staff and permanent staff) nor a registered student. A UCT third party is usually assigned a third party number (T-number) which will be used to uniquely identify them while they are accessing UCT facilities.
Employees of contractors undertaking outsourced functions (e.g. catering, campus security, cleaning, grounds);
Employees of agencies such as NRF and MRC who work at UCT on secondment, sometimes of a long-term nature;
PGWC-GSH-staff, not on the Joint Staff, (but not JMS-PGWC staff who are - by definition because they are Joint Staff - UCT staff and who thus will get UCT staff cards);
Consultants
Visiting lecturers
Independent contract staff
Medium- to long-term visitors who are neither staff (whether honorary or remunerated) nor students.
