Procedure: Editing a Book Authored

Introduction

Existing Books and eBooks Authored entries may be edited or updated, if required.  

Each Books and eBooks Authored entry on this page will be listed in a new row and will be displayed alternately in a blue / black font colour.  This formatting is only used within the Scholarly Output context and purely for ease of visual display of multiple entries.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the UCT Research Portal website with your UCT network credentials.

  2. Click Scholarly Outputs.

  1. In the Scholarly Outputs – Home  page, click Books and eBooks category.

  2. The Scholarly Outputs – Books and eBooks page opens with the various Books and eBooks Authored listings on the page.

  3. In the Authored section, click rp_edit.gif Edit next to the entry you wish to edit.

  1. The Scholarly Outputs – Edit a Book page opens.

  2. Edit the ISBN number in the ISBN Number field.

  3. Edit the title of the book in the Title of Book rich text field.

 

Editing an Author

  1. The Edit an Author  dialog box appears.

Editing additional book information

  1. The Scholarly Outputs – Edit a Book page reopens.

If necessary, make the following edits:

A scholarly output is considered ready for distribution once the Own Department and Own Faculty fields have been completed.

Contributing to OpenUCT

  1. The Upload to OpenUCT dialog box appears.

  2. Select the file version from the File to upload drop-down list field.

  3. Select the Creative Commons licence from the Licensing drop-down list field.

  4. Click Browse in the Upload file/s field.

  1. The File Upload dialog box opens.

  2. Navigate to the location of your saved file.

  3. Select the file to upload.

  4. Click Open.

  1. The File Upload dialog box reopens with your selected file listed below the Upload file/s field.

  2. Select the check box to agree to the OpenUCT non-exclusive distribution agreement.

  3. Click Upload File/s.

  4. The following message displays briefly: “Information was successfully saved.”

Saving a book

  1. The Scholarly Outputs – Edit a Book page reopens

  1. The Scholarly Outputs – Books and eBooks page reopens.
